Kodak Professional Rapid Selenium Toner is used to enhance the stability and longevity of the metallic silver in black and white photographic media. By converting it to more stable and archival silver selenide, this toner helps in preserving the prints for a longer time.
When used with warm-tone papers, it produces cool chocolate-brown hues, with neutral-tone papers, it results in purplish brown tones and very little or no effect on cold-tone papers.
For optimum print protection, it is recommended to use a 1:20 dilution of the toner. If you want to increase the shadow contrast and maximum density with a minimum tone change, then either a 1:20 or 1:40 dilution can be used. You can also use this toner with black and white film.
